Default Air purifiers for my budgie room?

Do any of you have any experience with air purifiers? I've been looking for good a one for my budgies room. I realize they are dusty birds and figure it may be best to get one.

They work great. Don't get an ionizing one, and get proper size for room or larger.

I was looking at a Germ Gaurdian HEPA Air Purifier System with UV Sanitzer. As for ionizers... I have a salt lamp that is said to emit negative ions in the air. Will it cause my budgies harm?

I definitely recommend you get an air purifier.

I have the Honeywell 50250 and it does a great job.

Honeywell now has "tower" models which would be much better space-wise (in my opinion)

Randy is correct - make sure you get a hepa air purifier that is proper size for the room and do not get one that ionizes the air.

You should remove the salt lamp.
The negative ions are not good for your budgies.

I've removed the salt lamp. Had no idea that it could potentially harm my budgies. Did some online research to understand why as well. Just upset I didn't know this before. Apparently ionizers trap the debris in the air and make them turn into bigger molecules and these things don't get sucked into the system...rather just fall on the floor or the walls. I'm assuming because birds are much more delicate, breathing in these now larger dust particles would be hazardous.

What I don't get is why they still manufacture these? Apparently the emit ozone as well. Which is also toxic to birds...humans too.

The ones I were looking at were all HEPA and not ionizers but now I'm glad I know to stay away from ionizers in the future.

Thanks to everyone with your suggestions. I'll probably order one sometime this weekend. Have a storm coming tomorrow and must occupy myself with hurricane shutters!
