Default Rocky doesn't like to be outside :(

Hello guys
just like the title, Rocky doesn't like to go outside of the cage
he always flies back inside the cage...
when he is outside he sits on the cage top and sometimes he panics and flies around in a circle , then he breaths a bit heavily if he flew too much (
I tried to design him some kind of a playgym but he doesn't seem to like it, so I ordered a wood one online, now I wait for it to come , maybe he will like that.
anyway how can I make him used to be outside of the cage because I don't want him to be inside the cage all day I want him to fly ! and be happy ! I want my room to be his kingdom haha
he's a very scared little boy ^^"
thank guys..

You can use positive reinforcement techniques to help Rocky gain a new appreciation for out of cage time: https://talkbudgies.com/taming-bondin...-training.html

This will be easier to achieve if Rocky has a good trusting bond with you. At first you can set up a play area for him at the top of the cage, and try to engage with him on a playful activity, you can use one of Rocky's favourite toys. Having some music on and providing a calm and inviting atmosphere (since pet birds are able to pick up emotions, you should also take this into account) will also be helpful in terms of decreasing the stress levels.
Good luck!

Some budgies are happy flying around and exploring while others are happiest in the safety of their cage.

aluz has offered you good advice but don't feel that there is anything wrong with Rocky if he chooses to prefer being a "homebudgie" over being an "explorer".
The main thing is that you want him to be healthy and happy. Beyond that, just love him for who and what he is.

Default Just sits there ?

Hello everyone
So today is the 10th day that Zhozho is at home we got him on September 18.
At the first few days he lived in a round cage and he was nuts in there ,kept pacing back and forth and jumping .
Last Friday I moved him to a slightly bigger cage (rockys old cage) and ever since he just sits still on a toy . Sometimes he would sing along with the birds outside or even with Rocky (they can hear each other across the room ..) , but I never see him playing with the toys I hung him , maybe only a little but with the one he sits on (mirror with beads)
So yeah basically all day he just sits there. He eats , poop looks normal , he doesn't seem puffed ..
Is he still in shock from the move ? When I put my hands in the cage he flies around like crazy so I guess he is ..
Funny when he was in the small cage he would climb onto my hand , now he's running away from it .

This is how he looks most of the day ..( when I'm home and I see it)
Tomorrow I will buy him a new perch and toys , maybe he would be interested in those ..
And I want to start our bonding process ❤️

It's perfectly understandable for your Zhozho to be behaving like that, no doubt he is still in the process of adjusting to the new environment and the recent change to a different cage.
It will take some time for him to be comfortable to confident to fully explore the cage and to try the toys. You could place a little toy bell and a swing to see if Zhozho takes a liking to them.
Also depending on where they came from, some budgies may not even know what toys are for and it's up to us (or their budgie friend) to show them their purpose.
After quarantine is over Rocky could also be a big help in term of teaching his new friend how to play with toys and to trust you.

Good luck!

Thank you aluz !
there is a bell toy in the cage but so far I haven't seen him playing with it :3
ahhh it makes sense, Zhozho was in a big cage outside where the breeder lives and I don't remember if there were toys there, I can't remember even if there was another bird in the cage, all I know it was a huge cage outside .
I can't wait for the quarantine to end (of course I will wait though !) ^___^ I want them to play toghter and be happy ♥
45 days am I right?
thanks !!

Yes, 45 days and you're very welcome.
We are also rooting for Rocky and Zhozho to be the best of friends and to be happier than they are now!

Default Just sits there ?

Thanks hehe
A little question that popped into my mind : tomorrow I am going to buy them also food
I used to buy back then a big box with seeds ,not branded in a local pet shop
Now I changed the shop to a better one , so I'll buy other seeds .. it doesn't really matter right ? I hope they will eat them , I mean Rocky because zhozho is still not used to them but Rocky has been eating them for 2 years .. so I don't know s:
Also about pellets I would like to buy them also at some point ,I think where I live they only sell the nutri bird ones so should I get the small ones for canary? And also what is better to start with the fruity or the normal kind ? I had the fruity ones..not much success ...
Thanks so much.

Update *
The pet shop gave me a cuttlebone as a gift but I just noticed it says "for cockatiels and other birds "
Is it safe for budgies ?
Also does it look okay ? I remember the ones I bought once were whiter

When changing brands of seed mix, it's best at first to mix both brands in order to make the transition smoother. When abruptly changing a seed mix, some budgies can refuse to eat the new brand, so it's important to make sure they are actually eating and to transition this gradually with the old seed mix.
You will find all the detailed information by checking the stickies at the Diet and Nutrition section.

Cuttlefish bone is for all species, and this is regardless of there being a cockatiel in the packaging.
