Default Deacon and Rayna... 3 months in - Video update!

Hi all!

So we have had our 2 juvenile budgies for about 3 months now and I believe they are settling in okay.

From what I can gather we are going through the norm. Most of the time they are as you see in the videos except when they are sleeping. Occasionally we have a little squabble but it's all forgotten about after a little preening.

Here are a couple of links for you. 2 videos, 2 minutes long each. I'd love to hear what some of the more experienced members think of their behaviour.

Hi there,

Their behaviour is perfectly normal for two happy budgies who are good friends.
The screeching done comes out of excitement and playfulness, it's not at all a negative one.
Your Rayna is quite playful, it was really nice to see her playing with the toy!
Thank you for this lovely update on Deacon and Rayna!

Thank you

Believe it or not, Deacon is usually the most playful. They wouldn't touch that mirror so I moved it from the roof to the side and fixed it solid rather than use the hook and now she wont leave it alone despite the fact the bit she is playing with is effectively in the same place!! Budgies eh?

We think (and hope) they are okay and happy. At first when they fought we were really worried but there has never been a serious fight between them. Just bickering over food or best perch etc which we believe is totally normal.

That's good to know and as long as the bickering is light and only happens occasionally, then that's okay. These little bickerings can be minimized or even put to a full stop by having two food dishes, two same type toys, etc.
It's also possible to avoid the bedtime bickering by strategically placing an extra perch or swing near the favourite place your budgies choose to sleep for the night.

Deacon and Reyna are very sweet

I agree with Aluz's advice to minimise bickering
