Default New white birdie

So backstory: After I got my budgies, my friend decided she just had to have one as well, but then decided it wasn't for her. She gave me the bird she bought from a pet store. She never named the bird or anything.

Well, I want to name the birdie, but I realized I don't know the gender too much. I'm thinking male, but I could be wrong!

I've already made an appointment with the birdie doctor, but because of my location and the fact there aren't many around, it's a month wait. Unless it's an emergency. I called the local pet store to see if they have someone who can remove the band on his/her leg, but their birdie expert wasn't in today. Hopefully I can get it off tomorrow. And maybe see about getting the nails clipped. Bird tried going down by putting his/her head under his/her foot. My finger was bit while trying to figure out what he/she was doing!

From that photo I'm seeing a mainly white coloured cere indicating female.
She is a young albino budgie, by looking at her it doesn't seem that she needs to have the nails trimmed as they seem to be fairly short in length.

Thank you. I'm also concerned about her vent area. She fell into her water bowl. I was just worried if this looked normal or if I am over reacting... again.

She wouldn't let me really get my camera phone too close. I can see her actual vent/butt though.

The little female is very pretty.

She's probably stressed from the change in environment right now which could account for the poop stains around her vet area.

I'd keep an eye on her for a couple of days to see if the poop becomes more normal or remains runny.

Covering the top and three sides of her cage may help her feel more secure.

I agree that the nails do not need to be clipped and you can wait to have the band removed when you take her to the Avian Vet.

Ok thank you. She hasn't pooped yet in her new cage. I haven't checked the box my friend put her in though, so that's why I was slightly concerned. She just ate some food and finally figured out the perch is her friend, rather than hang on the side.

She needs time to settle. I'd cover the cage as mentioned and play some music for her.

Don't try to touch her.
You'll need to sit by her cage starting tomorrow and talk, sing or read to her to help her get used to your presence and start to learn to trust you.

She is covered now. I just got my new perches in the mail, like 10 minutes ago, so I was changing out her plastic one. She was cool with my hand in there. Came down to check it out and tried to be sneaky and escape. She's already very talkative. She can hear Fluff and Tweet across the house. Chirped during the car ride to my house. Played with her toys a bit already.

That's great! It sounds as though she will be settling in fairly easily since she's already played a bit.

Are you thinking up a name for her now?

Trying to talk my kids into letting me name her Hedwig. Since they named the other three.

I had to uncover her though, she was trying to attack the cover! Was yelling at it and everything.

I like the name Hedwig for her.
It's funny that she didn't want the cover on the cage.
Obviously she knows her own mind.
