Welcome Rumple

I got a new Budgie yesterday. His name is Rumple as in Rumplestiltskin. I think his color is sky blue and cinnamon wing. As of right now he hasn't moved from the swing. So he hasn't ate or drink anything since I got him about 5:00 yesterday. I can't wait till quarantine is up so I can start introducing him to
Will o'Wisp

Congratulations on your latest arrival!
Your little Rumple is a gorgeous boy, he is a sky blue normal budgie.

Soon enough he will start to feel more comfortable and you will be able to see him eat/drink. To help him settle, you can cover the cage on 3 sided (leaving front part uncovered) and have some music on for him.

I couldn't help to notice that you have some kind of fleece hut for Rumple. Budgies don't need items like that to sleep in, in fact these can be dangerous if the pet bird ends up by chewing the material (causing serious digestive problems) or getting injured by having a toenail stuck into the fabric. It's also not advisable to have hiding spots on the cage as these will encourage breeding behaviour which can lead to egg laying.

Thank you :001_smile:

I'm aware that he doesn't need it to sleep in. I've had budgies before and currently have WillO'Wisp who doesn't have a hut. The hut is from my first budgie and hasn't been used since. The hut is only in there for know because he was hanging out in it at petsmart. I put it in there temporarily for him hoping it would help him feel more comfortable. I'm aware that he could chew it or a nail could get caught, but due to it being the weekend he's being supervised if one were to happen it would be removed immediately. Thanks for the warning though. :biggrin1:

Rumple is a very cute little fellow.

As he is already hanging out on other perches and on his swing, it would really be in Rumple's best interest to remove the snuggle hut now.

You want him to get used to his new home without it and he really doesn't need it to feel secure.

Rumple is a name I am hearing for the first time for a bird. It is different. Just give Rumple some time to get comfortable and settle in.

I'm worried about scaring him when I take it out. But I'll try.

Rumple is a very cute budgie, I am sure he will be a great fried for Will of the Wisp too once quarantine is over.

YAY Rumple finally ate some food. I can tell he is starting to get more comfortable. The swing seems to be his favorite spot because even after finally moving off of it onto a perch he went back soon after.
