Say hello to Ozzie!

Hey everyone!

After being alone for 1.5 years I finally got Daisy a partner! Ozzie is multicolored and male. Daisy is a male too. He is absolutely in love with Ozzie and has been treating him very well!
Ozzie on the other hand is still pretty nervous of his surroundings. I bought him from a local market here in India and he seemed pretty chirpy at the pet shop. It's been a week and so far he has only chirped thrice. He is healthy, I just wanted to know if this is normal? I'm hoping he'll be back to his normal self in a few days.

I have attached some pictures of them. Daisy is the white one and Ozzie is the multicolored one.:white plet:

Congratulations on your latest arrival!
Your new boy Ozzie is a gorgeous cobalt violet single factor golden face spangle budgie.
When bringing home a new pet bird, it's always best to follow quarantine procedures before introducing the new bird into the flock.
This is done as a preventative measure in case the new bird is carrying a potential illness that can be spread to the existing flock.
Even though your budgies have already met, you can still quarantine Ozzie.
You can find detailed information on this link: https://talkbudgies.com/new-budgie-ar...necessary.html

As for Ozzie being more quiet, he is still in the process of settling in to his new home and it takes time for him to feel fully comfortable. You can help Ozzie by covering his cage on 3 sides (leaving front part uncovered) and having some background music on for him. The music or background sound from the television will likely encourage Ozzie to sing.

Best of luck with your new little friend! :)

Hi Aluz!

Thank you so much for all the advice!
I had quarantined Ozzie for 2 days only actually and now they have been together for almost a week.

He does like music but whenever I come close to him or talk to him he starts breathing nervously. He eats quite a lot compared to Daisy who's a skinny boy!

Awww, little Ozzie is just as cute as can be!
It appears Daisy is helping him settle in and the two of them will soon be best buddies.

Congratulations on your new little sweetheart.

Ozzie is adorable! I'm glad that he and Daisy are getting along so well :)

In the future, you may want to quarantine your budgie for the recommended time of at least 40 days to be certain no illnesses from the pet store infect the other bird

I hope to see more of them! :photo:

Ozzie has finally started kissing Daisy back! He's just nervous around me and other humans now.

Will definitely keep that in mind, just couldn't help myself cause Daisy was so excited.

Thanks :001_smile:

Wonderful that your Daisy has a friend now.
I can imagine how happy he was to see another budgie after being by himself for that long.
A very pretty budgie you brought home.
