Default Different Moods Every Morning

I've had my budgie for a little over 2 months... and what's interesting (not having had one before) ... he wakes up with a different mood every day.

2 days ago, he woke up completely grouchy. I took the cover off and he went to his favorite toy immediately (which I've since removed b/c he was getting obsessed)... and I went to put his favorite perch in front of him to move him (so I could remove the toy).... and he wasn't having it. He lunged at and bit the perch, (was really mad about my audacity in trying to move him at that moment); and you could just see the grumpiness in his face. He was going to bite anything that came to close to him, he "woke up on the wrong side of the bed" and just wanted to sit near his favorite toy. Leave. him. alone.

Yesterday he was in a much better mood... but a little groggy and not as energetic.

Today he woke up very energetically and happy.

I've recognized that I just don't know mood I'm going to get on any given morning. Which if nothing else keeps it interesting.

Just like us, budgies can have better days than others.
I'm sure with time you will also be able to notice the nuances on your budgie's general behaviour and energy level depending on the season of year/weather (budgies are more enthusiastic and show more of their exuberance, energy and happiness on nice sunny days).

That's really interesting. Last week it was great weather & really sunny and he woke up head bobbing immediately, tons of energy, going crazy to get out of his cage (lots of wing flapping.) It's been a bit more overcast this week and he's not as amped up as he was last week. (I also thought maybe it was hormones.)

Also, I ran out of kale and he hasn't that in a few days (and had romaine lettuce instead), so I thought maybe that had something to do with it as well, since kale is more nutritious.

He might have not been feeling well the other day... he might be going into a molt (he's lost a feather or two.) ... I'm ok with his bad moods.... that's totally fair. I had an annoying headache all day yesterday and my energy was on the low side. Fair is fair.

What's interesting is I didn't realize the dynamics in their mood would be so noticeable. Sometimes it's not subtle. Which is ok, b/c that actually makes it easer.

Thx...!
