Default Leaking water dispenser

Hi
I've been having a mysterious problem with my budgie's water dispenser. It's a gravity feeder similar to these:
https://static.wixstatic.com/media/c2...0_0.00_jpg_srz
I came home a while ago, to find that it had emptied onto the floor.
I assumed there was a crack somewhere and replaced it with a similar model which worked fine, but then again, a few days later, dripped completely empty onto the floor.
Some days it works fine, on others it doesn't. I've tried adjusting the clip height but can't seem to work out what the heck I'm doing wrong - it's definitely my filling and placement causing the problem, not my bird's interference.
I've ordered another type with a slightly deeper spout and have added a water dish in the meantime but I'm just curious to know if other members have had issues and there's a particular knack to getting these to work well!?

I'm quite familiar with the problem you are experiencing. In my case, the water started to drip from the bottom of the container, I reached the conclusion that the bottom part of the container wasn't connecting well with the vertical tube.
I have also tried a couple of containers of different brands and still there was significant leakage.
I gave up on having that type of water containers because I simply can't trust them. I have an assortment of water bowls (some open and others with a top on) on all of my birds' cages and the water problems are over.

Hmm, I guess I'm going to have to have at least one additional water source in the cage if I'm going to use these. The pet shop suggested using the rabbit/rodent type with the ball inside at the end, I didn't think birds could use those but I don't trust that type either as I've had them jam in the past.

I'll have a google, thanks!

I agree with Aluz Personally, my budgie has a water bottle like for rodents in her cage as well as open water, she uses both sources and she always has the other if one of them spills/jams.

Are you sure you are putting the tube on the bottom properly?? If the slot in the tube is lined up with the opening on the bottom even a but, then the water will leak... the slot should be not showing for water and in the front for seeds.

I had these and had the same issue. they're just... rubbish, lol!
I use a few normal bowls as the birds do also like to tips the water bowls up.

Can you photograph the dispenser for me? I might be a complete newbie at budgie care, but I'm pretty good at fixing mechanical problems

This is the first type that I thought must be broken:

This is the second type that sometimes works well, sometimes doesn't:

And this is a slightly different type that arrived this morning:

PARROTLETS ROCK - maybe that's it! I've had the slot at the front where the spout bit is! Funnily enough, it hasn't leaked many times but as Aluz mentioned maybe I've got away with it at the times when I've pushed & kept well together the two pieces.

I'll still keep a small dish of water in there to help protect my bird from my dizziness, but hopefully he'll only be paddling now by choice! Thanks everyone. X
