Hi all, it's been a while, so I thought I'd give a little update on Bud and Raffa. Forgive me if I say something I've already posted because I can't remember what I said last time.
Raffa is now fully settled in his new home. His character is showing far more than it did when he was in the same cage as Bud. He's a mischievous little bird, and loves making noise in any way he can. This includes finding ways to clang various toys into the side of the cage! I'm getting him one of the Natural Bird Co. bells for christmas. He is also eating properly again, which is a relief. I think it was just the move and settling in that made him not eat properly, plus I couldn't remember his own feeding routine, only the one from when he was in with Bud. Now I'm getting to know how he feeds on his own, and he's eating plenty.
Bud is also improving vastly. Since being on her own back in the big cage, her temperament has improved greatly. She loves me giving her head rubs again, and is always making what I call her "baby noise" when I put my finger up to her. She also looks for affection now rather than for a chance to bite. There is pretty much no aggressive biting at all anymore, just the occasional too hard accidental peck. She is also just coming into her second moult, so I believe the bad behaviour was a mix of hormones and not liking being in with Raffa.
So, all in all, both budgies are doing great! I've got the old Bud back, and Raffa is showing who he really is!
