Default Poly Rope from My Safe Bird Store

I bought a foot of this "Thick Poly Rope" from My Safe Bird Store to give it a try to cover the metal of a swing I have that came with the cage. The thinking was.... it's better if Biz mouths this rope vs. the metal. That said, in hindsight, is this a safe rope product?

I didn't buy much so it's no big loss if so... but curious of your thoughts?

TPR Thick Poly Rope by the Foot - ROPE/CORDAGE

Thanks...!

What is it made of? It seems to be plastic rope in the photo on their site.

Either way, I tried to do something similar when I had a "mystery metal" way back when I first got Mallorn, and it was complicated to maintain and I still had this fear she would get to the metal. Now that everything in her cage is 100% safe, it's much less worrisome. If it were me, I'd just get him a new swing

I don't know how your swing is made...
Would it be possible to take it apart and simply string natural wooden beads on the wires?

... Yeah, I agree with you. I'm headed in that direction as well. But I was still curious about the rope since I went ahead and bought and it's on the way, with some other items I purchased.

I'm thinking the rope is safe if I were to use it for something else? (stringing beads or yucca chips etc.) It's basically a plastic. I think they sell it for bigger birds. I'm guessing it's somewhat indestructible but I should perhaps write them & ask more about it.

That's totally doable. But I was thinking by the time I bought the beads I think I could just buy a new (& better) swing. [ such as one with a grapevine perch and natural beads like you have! I love that one. I love that photo of three of your flock all sitting on theirs. ...]

The plastic rope you bought should be fine to use.
I have some similar plastic "rope" which I've used to make various toys.
So far, I haven't had any of the bird's trying to chew it.

Ive been using polyrope for years. It's fine . Its versatile and easy to make toys with it. The knots tie tight too.

Yep, I agree! If it's plastic, that's great! And you can always use it for DIY toys if you don't want to use it for the swing

I think that's where I'm headed. Just use it for DIY toys. I'm considering all sorts of swings... I love FearyBee's with the grapevine, and I love "Mallorn's Swing" -- that's a top contender! --- also, I kind of like this one.... (attached)... it's on sale for $20.00.... and it's stainless steel and those are stainless steel bells at the top. But, I'm wondering if it's a bit "cold." ... It will last though.

Had I to do it all over again.... and I would tell any new budgie owner this.... bypass most of the inexpensive toys... they won't last & will rust the first time you wash them (i.e. perches and swings with a random "mystery metal" rod filled with beads.)

There's a few good deals out there on toys... but some of the inexpensive ones at the local pet store were real clunkers. (Now I know better.)

That swing looks great! I agree with the "coldness" factor, though. It looks very durable, though, for sure!

Mallorn says to let her know if Biz ends up owning her swing She loves it for sure, especially the two levels and different types of perch on it as well as chewable bits.

Deborah's swing with the grapevine has been my envy for a while Someday perhaps I'll have one
