Default "Toy Failures" - My Budgie's Least Favorite Toys

Attached are pics of my budgie's least favorite toys. I move them around, but he's just not that interested in either.

Both are by Ecotrition. One is called "Goofy Links" (I thought he might want to climb on it. Nope.) The other is called "Jungle Jingle Wood."

The biggest hits so far have been:

- all the Planet Pleasures shredding toys
- cheap 100% plastic swings (with no metal parts)
- Yucca Kabob chew toys
- the common / very basic "rope" of plastic rings with a bell on the end
- This rubber, shell & mineral wafer thingy: https://www.petsmart.com/bird/suppli...0-%20Specialty
- This "starter" play gym is also a hit:
All Living ThingsŪ Bird Activity Center | bird Perches | PetSmart

The chew toy with the popsicle sticks is a winner with my budgie ( the common one with the wood beads in between each popsicle stick. ) The manufacturer confirmed that the wire is stainless steel, and I tested it and it is (it doesn't work with a magnet.) I replaced this with a stainless steel quicklink and cut off the yarn on the bottom: https://www.amazon.com/Caitec-Paradi.../dp/B001ODZ70A

He loves this toy caterpillar, but I keep play time with this limited and outside the cage: https://www.amazon.com/California-Cr...ar+wind-up+toy

What toys have been a *bust* for you....?

With the budgies, the biggest winner overall is JW Pet Company Insight Sand Perch Swing Bird Toy:

Next are Planet Pleasure shredder toys. So far, everybody has rejected the all plastic swings we have (two different models). I take it out after a while I try it with the next budgie.

It's so funny how particular they are. You reminded me of another winner I forgot about.... the JW Pet Co. (plastic) Disco Ball...

I have a toy very similar to the "Jungle Jingle Wood" and neither of my budgies have touched it, I wonder if the wood is too thick for them?

Something I like to do with toys they don't like or ones that have been mostly destroyed is to take them apart and reuse them in different store bought toys or make new toys with them, this is especially nice when they finally ruin a favourite toy and I can kind of extended the life of it, or at least parts of it

I noticed with all my birds that some toys will sit in their cages forever untouched, then if I leave it in there, out of the blue one day, they will just start playing with it. Chip is one bird who will literally play with everything. He is not particular what kind of toy it is as long as it's something to play with. In fact, I have never seen a bird of any species who loved to play quite as much as Chip does.

It's disappointing when we buy a toy we "know" that a particular bird will love, but they end up ignoring it. As I say though, if I don't take it out, months or half a year later they start trying it finally.

Thanks Brit & Julie for the ideas. I'll do some mix and mingling with the "unpopular" toys. And I'll be patient. Perhaps Biz will give them a try some day.
