Default What is with my birds and toothpaste?

I have an ensuite off my room where my budgies live, and if I'm not careful to keep the light off in there, I have budgies swarming my toothpaste tube! Why do they want such fresh breath? ?

Without knowing exactly what your set up looks like (bedroom and ensuite bathroom).. does there happen to be a door that you can keep closed to the immediate toilet area? Where I would guess the sink/toothpaste would be? Whatever immediate area your budgies live in, I would take steps to make it bird safe, and keep all things inappropriate for them out of reach.

As an off the wall guess, maybe it's not the toothpaste as such. Do you keep it on the sink? If so they may be waiting for the running water from the tap to come back... Just a guess.

Yes, There is a door there, and I do keep it shut at all times except for when I'm in there. They've never played in the sink in there (they prefer showers), and there are other things on the counter, but they all race towards the one of two toothpaste tubes abd start squabbling with each other over it!!

It's not a big concern to me, as I just keep them out of there, but I was curious about the reason they were so attracted to it.

It may simply be the smoothness of the tube they like.
My budgies and lovebirds all seem to have preferences when it comes to specific "textures" of tactile nature.
