Default How do you introduce new perches/toys to your budgies?

My budgies are often very wary of new toys and perches. I bought Leo some new stuff because it was his birthday yesterday, and because they needed some new stuff. I got a few new perches and a couple toys. I put some of them in Leo and Calypso's cage and they were not very happy about it. They both went to the corner and glared at the new perches. Calypso explored one of the new perches last night, but they were both very wary. What do you guys do to introduce new things to your budgies?

For more nervous/insecure and easily scared budgies, the trick is to slowly acclimate them to the new items and to give them the time to realize the new objects aren't there to hurt them.
This can be done by placing a new toy/perch close to the cage (not inside of it). If the budgies have a designated play area for having out of cage time, you can also set up a new toy or perch nearby and even strategically place a snack for them to eat in order for them to be more courageous.
Later on, once the new items are recognized and accepted, they can be placed on the cage.
