Default He's acting strange...or I'm overreacting

My budgie Albie is acting strange...to me I guess. I recently had to rehome his partner Avon for various reasons. He's alone in his cage and is actually happier it seems. I've known he doesn't like other birds since I got him so I'm not surprised by this. But since I rehomed Avon, Albie isn't eating as much. He eats when I'm in the room but not any other time. I've put honey oats in his seed to keep him interested. I don't know if it's dark or he's cold...or sick. (He's not showing any of the signs of being sick). Am I overreacting? He also doesn't move much...he mainly stays in one spot then moves to lower perches when he wants food and water. He doesn't play with any toys either.. but then again he never has.

I've moved your thread to Budgie Behavior where it is more appropriate.

Albie doesn't sound to me as if he's acting strange.

However, giving more background information would be extremely helpful...

How old is Albie?
How much time are you spending with him on a daily basis?
Do you give him out of cage time?
Do you play with his toys to show him how much fun they are?
What is the temperature in the room?
Do you play the TV or music for him when you aren't there with him?

Thank you. Sorry for putting it in the wrong folder.

Albie is nearly 4 months old. He's still young. I've had him for nearly 2 months and I normally spend most the day in the same room with him because I work midnights and I'm home all day. The room I have can get chilly but I turn on a heater when it gets to cold so it warms the room up so it's just right for him. I haven't tried playing music for him while I'm gone for long periods of time. Hadn't even thought of that. As for his toys I haven't tried showing him they're fun yet because he's not fully trained and gets anxious when I have my hand in the cage moving stuff. I give him time outside the cage twice a day for a good 20 mins. He normalls just roams around the floor.

Taming and Bonding takes time and patience.
You'll need to actually work with Albie on a regular and consistent basis rather than just allowing him to roam around on the floor.

Please take the time to read all the stickies throughout the forums as well as the Budgie Articles. You'll find a wealth of information which will help you ensure you are giving Albie the best of care.

Take a look at these links for some good ideas with regard to your interactions with the little guy.

I can make this into a Training Journal thread and move it to the appropriate forum if you'd like to keep track of your progress with Albie. Just send me a quick PM to let me know.

Best wishes!
