Question Air Purification experts please help

Hello all,

I have have had my budgie for about 10 years now (got him when i was 12), and i keep him in my room about 60% of the time (i put his cage outside when its good weather) so there is lots of the feather dust especially when he flies around. however, I never knew that this can be dangerous to your health. and now, im pretty worried about getting this lung disease i am reading about.

i want to get a good air purifier (hopefully not too little too late) but live in Australia and the well regarded rabbit air does not ship here. I don't really know what makes an effective air purifier for this specific reason (the bird dander), so is this air purifier an effective substitute? does it have what you are supposed to look for for removing bird dander?

The only thing i can currently go by is that it is expensive so it must be good, but while it might be good for normal use, how about for this specific situation?

I actually am very worried about getting this illness now, but definitely won't get rid of my budgie

The Dyson Pure Cool? Link purifier ? Technology | Dyson.com.au

or google 'Dyson Pure Cool Link'

Thank you all

Hi! to Talk Budgies

First, put your mind at ease because having just one budgie in your bedroom is not bad for your health assuming you are cleaning his cage daily.
I had three lovebirds, three budgies and two shetland sheepdogs sharing my bedroom for years with no ill effects whatsoever.

I do have an HEPA air filter in the bedroom and it is amazing the amount of dust and debris it filters from the air.
I have a Honeywell 6050 but it is round and takes up a lot of room. Works great though, so I don't want to replace it until I have to.
Looking at the link to the Dyson one you are considering, I think it will be an excellent choice.

Please take the time to read through all of the How To Guides, the FAQs and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.

Hi there and to the forums!

Deborah has given you great advice. The concern with lung issues occurs mostly in large indoor aviaries, which is why it is called "bird breeders' lung"

Air purifiers are good to have regardless, that one linked does indeed look good.

It's great to have you here on the forums, and we look forward to meeting your little budgie soon!

Be sure to read through the links provided to ensure you're up to date on all the resources the forum provides. If you have any questions afterwards, please be sure to ask as we'd love to help!

Cheers, hope to see you around!
