Default Bird Kabob- Allergen?

Hey all! So a couple of days ago I purchased the mini Bird Kabob for Smol and he absolutely loves it.

However, some of you already know that Smol sneezes every now and again, most likely due to some dust in the air (been vacuuming/ dusting more often to help out his lil sniffer) but now whenever he knaws at the kabob he'll let out these huge sneezes. Nothing is spraying from his nostrils, but it's definitely bigger sneezes than his tiny, almost inaudible "thoos" from dust.

I'm wondering if maybe the dust from the kabob is doing this? Has anybody else had their birds react like this the the bird kabobs?

Biz does this when he chews on the bird kabobs. I'll see if I can get it on video.

I never worried about it too much because my sense was that he was chewing on them too vigorously or getting little parts stuck in his throat or something... and whatever it was he was doing, I thought it seemed natural (like a natural course correction on his part), so objectively I didn't worry about it too much b/c he seems fine otherwise. But I did keep an eye on it.

He has had bird kabobs for about 2 months with no issues, and really likes them a lot.

I researched bird kabobs and corresponded with the company about some questions, and they seem to be a very safe product with an established 30 year track record.

I hear you however re. the concern. I was a bit concerned as well, but in keeping an eye on Biz there seem to be no issues.

That's just my take... perhaps others have another pov or experience with it.

I agree totally with the above post; as budgies shred things vigorously, they can get some dust in their nose, etc. so they sneeze to correct this. It's very normal for all budgies to do this, and the bird kabobs are safe for them to shred.

It seems as if your little one likes them a lot!

I'm so glad! He loves it and I really didn't want to take it away from him

That's great Smol likes those. I'm glad you're not taking it away. I think it's a great toy to work out extra energy or hormones as they're going through the teenager phase. Biz was so happy the first time I bought this. I also like all of the Planet Pleasures palm leaf products. Biz absolutely loves all of those and they're very safe.

Here you can see Biz coughing a bit when chewing on a kabob. It's at the beginning. Sometimes his coughs are a bit louder but this is what I got on video. ....Is this kind of like what you're talking about ....?

My budgie Tiki does this too. He'll start chewing on the kabob vigorously and then let out a series of sneezes,in quick succession, lol.
