Wash it so that the color gets lighter. If you have a dishwasher, put it in there without soap, and a cycle with hot water should remove most of the color. When I've washed colored wood store bought toys like that, they accidentally came out very faded! I think Reggie might just eventually get used to it as is though.
I'd give him some time. Sometimes they just need some time for their curiosity to get the better of them. Give him at least a week before you make more work for yourself. My bird has initially reacted with fear to things and then came around. Also, have you tried to entice him with millet on the gyms?
You can also reduce the toys so he's not overwhelmed or scared.
Yeah I have removed some toys and I've also done the water technique. Making the colour a little lighter maybe he's scared of the colours. I've also put some treats on the playgym too! I'll keep updated.
Another lovely play gym. I have all those toys except the duck one. Like you I think the US has more choice. During my Easter and Summer hols want to make more toys. Got to be careful though! Not a mistake just might take time! Love our birdies. They so much fun. Love this thread too! Wish you lived closer we could chat birds! Enjoy budgie time. Nat/Bubs.
