Default Is this a safe toy.

I bought this from eBay off a woman who claims all her toys are made safely. It looks really pretty. Does anyone have one of these and do you think it's safe.

There is clearly no danger of *budgies* swallowing those beads, which is what the point of the post is, shaunaxox.

I've seen toys like this before in birds cages but it's the bell and the clasp at the top which you need to know about.
Did the member who sold it tell you what metal they are made from?

I agree with Therm. The bell could have a toxic metal like zinc or lead. You should ask the person who sold it to you what metals the bell is made out of.

Emma,

I have a similar toy and it is very popular with my birds.

However, I am concerned about the bell on the one in your picture as it may be made of a metal that is not safe for budgies.
As Therm indicated, please contact the person who made the toy and ask exactly what metal(s) the bell and top clasp are.
Are the beads on the toy acrylic or wood? If they are wood, are they painted and, if so, did the person who made the toy paint them or did she purchase them already painted?

It would be best to leave giving of advice to the more knowledgeable and experienced members of the forum at this time. We have staff who are here and monitoring the threads who will give accurate information and it will be a good way for you to learn by reading what they write.

Best wishes.

Thank you I will message and ask her today. I did notice you could buy these from China but that worried me so I chose someone who made them In the UK. It's difficult to trust people who are making a living out of selling these toys as you just have to trust what they say. She does state this is not toxic but doesn't specify. Thanks for the advice , I won't use it for now till I know for sure
