Default Bathing in water bottle :)

Hi, I've had my baby budgie, The Captain, for five months now. He's very playful, and has discovered that if he splashes the water out of the bottom of his water bottle, he can watch the bubbles go up, the water drip down, and have a little bath. It's pretty cute, but he empties his water bottle really fast with all his playing, and the newspaper at the bottom of his cage gets soaked. He only started this yesterday, and I've been home to continuously refill it for him, but I need to get a new water bottle for him. Do you have any suggestions for my little guy?

Thank you

He has the same type of water bottle as shown in the picture.

that's funny! I would get a new bottle for him, or not use a bottle at all, but I don't think you can stop a playful budgie once they've found out something!

How silly that he's figured out how to bathe in his bottle He's very enterprising!

I would keep it in there (or get him a bottle type water bottle, with a spout) and hang a budgie bath on the side of the cage or encourage him to bathe in a shallow glass pie dish filled with 1 inch of water Perhaps when he realises that he can bathe in a better place he'll stop dumping his water

Thank you for your suggestions

I put a bird bath in his cage underneath his water bottle just to catch the dripping water for now.

Is it alright to leave a bird bath in his cage with an inch of water unsupervised? I've always taken him out to let him have a little bath.

Here is the type of bird bath I have.

Thank you

Yes, that's fine I would do 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch just to be safe if he's unsupervised
