Default Soon to be new bird parents

In approximately 3-4 weeks, we will be welcoming this little guy or girl into our home. My daughters can hardly wait, they are constantly asking to go to the bird store and see the baby bird. They can't understand why it can't come home now. It is amazing how fast they grow and change. It was featherless when I picked it out. The breeder thought it would be sky or cobalt blue now she thinks it might be an opaline.

Welcome to the forums and the soon-to-be ever exciting world of budgie ownership!
You have certainly come to the right place as you will find all you need to know on budgie care here.
The information on the several articles and sticky threads and will extremely useful as you become more familiar with the species.
Be sure to pay extra attention to the Diet and Nutrition and the Taming and Bonding sections of Talk Budgies.

Indeed you do you have a cute opaline budgie, I believe she is cobalt violet in colour, once she is more feathered up, it will be easier to tell the exact colouring.
I'm saying she for now because by looking at the second to last picture the cere looks quite girlish to me.
This will be confirmed (or denied) once the colour on the cere sets in more.

Thank you for all the replies, I grew up in a bird friendly family. My grandmother started with a parakeet in when I was 3 or 4. She later adopted the sweetest Cockatiel and eventually ended up with a angry little Sun Conure. The breeder she purchased the conure from was less than reputable and I don't think she spent enough time with it as a baby. My grandma used to take her tiel to work with her, but the conure was so mean to strangers she was afraid it might injure someone.
Our five year old daughter is convinced the budgie is hers, lol. She has been asking for a parrot for about a year. About 6 months ago, she started feeding our dogs all by herself trying to prove she was responsible enough. She is very mature for a five year old and also helps me with our chickens. My wife and I will be primarily responsible for bird care.

Hi FearyBee,
I'm not sure, why you can't see the photos, i think others have been able to see them. I posted them through picasa which I have used for other forums, the links I used end with .jpg.
