How much time to spend with single budgie?
Hey, I keep my two girls together so they always have eachother for companionship and they get at least an hour of playtime outside their cage everyday. I was just curious though, if one were to keep a single bird, how much would be the minimum amount of time you should spend with it each day?

The minimum amount of time isn't something which is set in stone.
This will mainly depend on the owner's schedules and also on the type of household and whether the family is all engaged in spending daily quality time with the single pet bird or not.
I would say the very bare minimum of daily close interaction (this goes for both in or out of cage) throughout the day to be 2 to 3 hours.

I agree with aluz. I try to spend lots of time with my bird, since a single budgie can get lonesome and bored without adequate attention. ;)

I agree as well :)

With my girl, I spend a few hours with her every day (includes out of cage time with her and sitting by her cage, etc.) and she has someone in the house for most of the day (another member of her "human" flock). The routine we've established works wonderfully, and she's a very cheerful little girl :D

My grandfather was always a one budgie at a time guy. He would come home from work, and when he was done with whatever tasks he had for day and was retiring to his recliner for the evening, would open the cage door and let his buddy come out on his own and spend as much time out of cage as he wanted until bedtime. Alway's seemed to work for him over the year's but i don't think any budgie would mind as much as you can give them....:001_smile:

You've been given excellent advice regarding the amount of time one should interact with a solo budgie. :)
Just like with cage sizes where bigger is better -- the more time you can interact with your bird(s) the happier they will be.

Best wishes!
