Default Advice on outside cage time

Hi all

Mycroft is learning that it's not all bad outside his cage but he is still doing this panting? with his mouth. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this with any of their birds. I thought it was because he was flying but today he didn't fly was happy to come out his cage onto a perch but still behaved this way in the video.

Thanks a a lot for any advice I just don't want to stress him out - he doesn't come out his cage if I leave the door open.

He is still very nervous and uncomfortable about leaving the cage which is his safe place. Don't force the issue, but rather be patient and try to have interaction and good thing's like treat's for him around the door. In time your bond with him and his good experiences will overcome the fear...

It's really best if you do not force Mycroft to come out of his cage.
Leave the door of the cage open when you are there to supervise him and let him decide on his own if and when he wants to venture out.

You can set up a little playground area outside of his cage with a favorite toy and treat to help entice him to try exploring the area outside his safe home. It may take a few weeks before he's ready and, if that is the case, don't force the issue -- just be patient and take things at Mycroft's pace.

Best wishes!
