Default I'm looking at a breeding cage

Hey everyone! So my birdies are getting a little older now, and I want to start breeding them! I want to get an actual breeding cage for it though. I was looking at this one, but if anyone has any suggestions on what to get I would love the input! And also, What do you budgie breeders use for breeding cages? Thanks!

I know nothing on breeding budgies. The only advice I can give you is to read the stickies on the "Breeding Budgies" forum and do a TON of research to avoid fatal problems like egg binding. I'm sure more knowledgeable will give you more detailed advice.

Kristen,

Lindsey uses the 30x18x18 White Finch Flight Cages as breeding cages which makes each of her breeding cages twice as long as the ones you are considering.

Take a look at this link:

The one I posted has a length of 37 1/2 inches. Is it taking you to the right page? I'm looking at the F070 by Prevue Hendrix. Granted the ones Lindsey uses would be much more cost effective, lol.

Kristen,

The link you posted is for a dual cage with a total length of 37.5 inches.

That means each individual cage would be 18.25 inches long.
The cages Lindsey has are each 30 inches long x 18 inches wide x 18 high.

Exterior Dimensions: 37.5 L x 20.5 H x 18 W
Interior Dimensions: 18.25 L x 19.5 x 17.5 W

Were you planning to take the divider out and use the combination of both cages for one pair?

Yes, actually, sorry I should have mentioned that, lol. I like the look of the prevue too as it matches their current cages.

Does anyone use anything else when you breed your budgies?

Hi there!

As our pair used an aviary with a wooden nesting box in it, I can't give any advice on breeding cages. But breeding is always so exciting and I came to wish the best of luck to you!!

Well then, since I now know you plan to use the entire unit for one pair, I think it looks great.

I'd suggest you read all the reviews on Amazon's link if you haven't yet.

I definitely plan on it, I have before, but not for a while!
