new Cage

My babies now have a new cage!! IT is HUGE! My three little budgies look so small in there. I need MORE toys for them soon. They are so happy fluttering around from one thing to another....head bobs and chirping like crazy..

Thank you Jonah(Randy). It was very nice to meet you today.

I will post pics tomorrow of it.

I am looking forward to seeing the new castle :D
It's always nice to meet a member of the forum, isn't it?

Yes it is :D

Oh that's brilliant :) haha I know that dilemma more space more toys :) soon you'll end up like me - Noah has 2 large shelves of the pantry allocated to his things, his own play shelf that he chose himself (it was meant to store glass wear!), the top of the fridge and the top of the microwave, a large shelf in the wardrobe of the study and of course the study itself at nighttime when he goes to bed. Now that Zazu has arrived the entire bedroom is taken over with more bird stuff and I've also cleared out a large shelf in the bedroom wardrobe for when quarantine is over where both of them will sleep at night in their travel cages (I've decided that the study is too close to the living area and that Noah might not be getting a full night sleep if he hears the TV on from his room :D

So basically Luke is getting squeezed out :D :D

Kathy, it was nice to meet you and Mike too. I'm glad you have them in their new cage, and they are enjoying it. I'm sure you will enjoy the sound of fluttering wing's as much as I alway's did, it bring's a sense of satisfaction to know they are doing what bird's like to do, fly. Thank you for the bumper sticker, will be watching for pic's of your setup....:)

did you all notice I said more TOYS...not more birds? I am very very proud of myself....we stopped in Lansing on the way home for some looking around and I seen this totally beautiful pure grey budgie...no other colors on it that I could see. (Mike was waiting for me to buy it) but....I didnt....I walked away with 4 new toys for my new cage.

I do have a question. I want to put a plant in there for them to have a real plant to climb on. What type have any of you used or heard of being used? I think it would be awesome to let them have some real greenery for them.

Hahaha well done :D that took great willpower I'm sure :D

I would be reluctant to put a potted plant in the cage as the soil can cause some health problems if digested. I gather eucalyptus and other native Australian branches and create a rainforest every so often although I realise that's not an option for everyone depending on location. Perhaps you could buy a few large potted garden plants (small trees) that are safe for budgies and take clippings from them every so often to put inside the bird cage?

I wonder if I could have the pot outside the cage and grow it into the cage. I am also doing a search right now for a "Tree/branch" that is about 4ft tall to put in there. It would go up almost to the top. Then I will look for a plank bridge to go from the tree to a perch.
