Hi all,

I recently saw another member post the sale at petco. I am have been looking to get another cage but trying to figure out my arrangement. I am limited on space but really want my birds to have the biggest cage possible. I recently saw some pictures in a lot of groups of this critter nation double being used for birds. The great thing about it is it is HUGE and it has 1/2 inch bar spacing. Which is hard to find in a stacker cage. Each cage section is 36L, 24D, and 24.5H. According to the 3800 cubic inch rule, that is 5.5 budgies haha. There are no stackers even comparable to this size with 1/2 inch spacing. It would allow all of my birds to have huge spaces in the limited of room I have which is a huge pro for me. The cage is also very sturdy and has all horizontal bars (not sure if that is a pro or con really).

The cons are that there are no doors on the cage aside from the big ones in the front. So for nest boxes or if someone was bird sitting and had to feed the birds, they might not like opening the whole door. I think the budgies would be fine because they don't rush out when you open the door. But my other bird who'd be on the bottom does. My birds use water bottles tho that attach from the outside, so as long as I put plenty of food inside the cage, I dont think this would be a big deal if I went on a short trip and someone could just change the water from the outside. I would also order 2.5 inch deep trays for this cage bottom from the company website. There is no grate but as it stands right now I use newspaper on top of the grate in my cages anyway.

Another option is I could get the Prevue F040 for my budgies and give their current HQ flight cage to my other bird, but that would require moving my other bird out of the room that everyone else is in to another part of the house that is not visited much. I wonder if she'd prefer the company of being in the same room as everyone else...a room that I often sit in and use as a den of sorts.

So what are everyones thoughts? Here is the link to the cage. Attached are some pics (other peoples, not mine) of the cage being used for parrots. I have to make a decision soon while this sale is on.

Amber,

As long as you don't mind the fact there are no "feeder/breeder" doors on the Critter Nation set-up, it looks like a lovely set-up to me.

I particularly like that you also have the ability to purchase another add-on for the top if you choose to do so!

I would imagine all of your birds much prefer being in the same room rather than one of them being in an area of the house that is not frequented often, but only you can make that call.

The funny thing is that I bypassed getting sunglasses for the cage. It just seemed more exciting to me haha.
