Hi and to Talk Budgies!

You are going to need a cage that is a minimum of 30"x18"x18"
(76 cm x 46 cm x 46 cm) if you plan to house two budgies in it. Please ensure the spacing between the bars is no more than 1/2" (1.27 cm)

I'm linking a recent thread discussing cages available in the UK. (I'm assuming that's where you are located going from the cage link you provided. )

https://talkbudgies.com/general-budgi...on-begins.html

I'd suggest taking a look at this thread as well:
https://talkbudgies.com/housing-budgi...reat-cage.html

Please take the time to read through all of the How To Guides, the FAQs and the stickies located at the top of each section of the forum.

You'll find most of your basic questions about budgies and caring for them will have been answered after you've read through all of them.

Thanks, do you think that cage I linked is okay?
I'd probably change it later on but just for nowsies.

That thread is really helpful by the way, thank you

Also, don't think that one had the measurements on,
so this one should be more helpful

Neither link gives me the dimensions of the cage so you'll need to check them to ensure they meet the minimum requirements listed.

Remember, budgies like to chew so they will try to chew on the wood portions of the cage you linked.

I'd probably be more inclined to go with this one:
Canary Cages: great selection at zooplus: Bird Cage Finca pequeno

But, if you are happy with the one with the wood and it meets the minimum size requirements and has the proper bar spacing, then it should be fine.

the measurements are this;
Medium: W 69cm x D 34.5cm x H 58cm

I'd hope they wouldn't completely destroy it, and I have considered the Finca Pequeno as my first cage but then I saw this one and thought it might be a little bit stronger, I'm not sure, time to make sure I actually have space or it'll be moving furniture time haha.

Smudgies, that is the cage I have for my birds. It's a nice cage.
Mine are all stacked together so it's not an issue for me, but you can secure any bits you need too with some zipties. But I've never had an issue with mine.

Having a wider rather than a taller cage is always best with budgies. Some decorative cages waste space to 'look nice'.

Great choice! I'll be looking forward to seeing pictures of your cage once you have it set up.
You can post them right in this same thread.

How exciting that you may be getting your budgie next week!

Ooo, nice one Therm
Your cages all look very nice and I much prefer them to be useful rather than just being "pretty" or good for "decorative purposes".
I know Faery, I'm super excited. I much prefer shopping for my animals than shopping for myself so the pet shop visit is going to be great, lol! Only thing is that I will probably fall in love with all the little budgies and want to take them all which I know I could not do, haha. Will be posting pictures of the cage setup maybe next weekend, when I have gone shopping etc. Maybe have a new lil guy there too, who knows Only time will tell!
Considering the name "Bowie" like David Bowie as I think he was a really great person and an inspiration.
Not sure whether to go with pets at home for my bird or to go to a more independent pet shop as it has mixed reviews of being really bad or really great.
No breeders nearby either as all are like 100 miles out which I can't really do.

My local Pets at Home store stopped selling all birds a few years back. I kinda assumed they all did but is that not the case where you live?
All mine come from a variety of local pet stores.
