Default Considering new Cage options for Rigby

Hi..
I currently have one large flight cage for Oscar.. it's this one... made by HQ. I paid $139 (free shipping) from Amazon. It's now $159. I love this cage, by the way.. double doors, heavy weight (not flimsy), etc.

I'm looking for another one for Riggs. He's in a smaller cage now, which was great at first. Now he's wanting more room and out of cage time, so... I'd like to accomodate that.

This one is similar, but has all those little feeding doors (I don't love those)... and may be a mite bigger (no mites pun intended) It's $113.99 w/ free ship.

What do you think? I'm well equipped with perches of all sizes, materials, toys and swings.. sheesh, you'd think I have a flock of 10! Rigby isn't very much interested in toys and won't have anything to do with a swing.. YET. Any advice on that subject is welcome as well!

I think you will be happier with the HQ Cage which is a lovely size for one or two budgies.

The difference in price isn't much more than the lower cost cage and I believe the HQ will be much higher quality.

If you choose the lower priced cage, please be sure to use clips or clamps for safety on the guillotine-style feeder doors.

I would also go with the HQ, since you already have one, you know it would be great quality, whereas the other one may have issues.

As Rigby settles into your home a bit more as the mite treatments finish, he'll probably start exploring his toys and swings more than he is now

Thanks for the input.... of course, if I weren't so darn lazy, I could always go for the well proven and respected Prevue Hendryx FO40. But, well, there you are... too lazy.
Shanebudgies, I'm down from 5 budgies to 2... Oscarlynn and Rigby.
I love having the biggest cage I can find for my budgies.. I think it's a good thing for them and well, I'm claustrophobic and it bugs me to see them in very small areas

Starling Wings: Yes, I'm hoping little Rigby will relax enough to enjoy his toys and get on his swing. When I first got him, he spent most all of his time on a wooden dowel, but now gets around to the other perches quite often and wants to explore more... both in and out of the cage.
Thanks Faerybee for your input... I will be getting another HQ.. I really am happy with the one I have.

Excellent choice, Judy!

We'll be looking forward to seeing pictures when the cage has arrived, is set up and accessorized.

Surely your Rigby will love all the extra space on the new cage you will be getting him!

I couldn't help to notice the fact that you didn't mention your boys PJ and Ivan.
I thought they were still part of your flock, I hope they are okay.

So what happened to PJ and Ivan?
Are they still with you?
I get so lost with all the members and their birds but I'm trying to make sure I remember them now. So what happened?

I too was confused... I thought wow Rigby having the mansion all to himself? Lol I thought he'd be sharing if not with Oscarlyn, then with PJ or Ivan come to think about it since they were mentioned above. I also have to say I miss hearing about your flock, and I wasn't sure what happened. I hope it's alright that I inquire!
