Default Is this cage ok for budgies?

Hi everyone, I have 2 budgie birds and had them in the M01 cage by vision. I want a bigger cage but it says this cage is for larger birds and has larger wire. So i am curious if they are suitable for budgie birds and if the toys will still fit in them?

Vision Bird Cage for large birds (L12) - Double height, Large wire | PetOnly.ca

If not i guess I can get this one ?

Vision Bird Cage for large birds (L01) - Single height, Small wire | PetOnly.ca

Or if anyone knows of any decent bird cages no larger then 31 inches in length please let me know that isn't too expensive and can be shipped to canada, and cost no more then $200 canadian. I like the vision cages because of the bottom theres less mess due to the plastic covering and they dont poop in their water often because of the cup shelters.

The spacing between the bars on the first cage you listed is much too far apart to safely house a budgie.

The maximum space between bars should be no more than .5 " or 12.7 mm

Look on Amazon.ca ... this one
https://www.amazon.ca/PawHut-Large-M...ds=Flight+cage
Also this one, a tad over your price but a good cage,
https://www.amazon.ca/Prevue-Pet-Pro...ds=Flight+cage

You can always use mesh cloth to make seed guards for the bottom of these cages.

Vision does make a taller one suitable for budgies:
Vision Bird Cage for medium birds (M02) - Double height, Small wire | PetOnly.ca

I think people have found them a bit unwieldy, however, because of having to lift the whole top off to clean it.

Totally agree with FaeryBee on the first one. The second one is a safer choice but on amazon.ca they offer the same cage for a little less. Also they have a couple other Vision models that have more room but still are under your 31" requirement.

your second choice from your post
17 x 31 x 22 .5 bar spacing
https://www.amazon.ca/Vision-Bird-Ca...ds=vision+cage

Another choice
16 x 25 x 34 . 5 bar spacing
https://www.amazon.ca/Vision-Bird-Ca...ds=vision+cage

This one is just a tad over budget but thought I would include it
17 x 31 x 37 looks to be .5 bar spacing
https://www.amazon.ca/Vision-Bird-Ca...ds=vision+cage

I like the ones Parrotlets Rock mentioned too.

Hi... watch this video and you will see why you only ever want to have a cage with 1/2" (.05") spacing. No budgie is harmed in this video, but it shows you clearly how they can and will try to escape.
Budgie Escape Mission : Vision Bird Cages from Hagen - YouTube
This one isn't really much bigger than what you already have, however I like this cage on a budget and with limited space. It's 14" wide, 26" in length and 22" high.

It also comes in other colors (Green, Purple)... but in the "cage kit" it's only in blue. The "kit" just comes with a few toys and a swing, etc. It's a good deal if you want blue... but if you don't want blue... the other ones are good too.

That video was a great visual of why the spacing is so important. Luckily that little rascal wasn't hurt but still very nerve-racking to watch and should he have gotten stuck (looked to be for a second) and panicked it could have gone bad very quickly.

Thanks a lot guys ! I went to a trade post store today and found a nice cage for only $60 ! It is 17 inch x 14 inch by 53 inch I believe its pretty high. I hope they like it. It is soaking in hot soapy water right now. Any tips on sanitation when buying a used cage? And that petmaw cage is really nice too thanks for that suggestion. Maybe ill buy that one another time -=)

Rinse the cage very well using boiling water and ensure you have all the soapy residue off it.
(Personally, I'd rinse it several times myself.)

Check the cage thoroughly to ensure there are no rusted spots anywhere on it.
If the cage is powder coated, make sure all of the powder coating is still in place.

The boiling water rinses will ensure the cage is disinfected.

For future cleanings of the cage you can use undiluted pure white vinegar.

Hi... glad you found a cage. Just for information, I had a Pawhut cage shown in a link above, and it's a nice cage.. should you ever decide to get a larger cage!
