Default Travel Cage Size

I am thinking about purchasing a travel cage for our new baby to come home in and also for general transportation. What is the minimum size cage I should consider? The breeder has some 12"x12" cube cages, is this too small?

I've tried using the search function today and yesterday, but it is not working with safari. I try searching and it just goes to a white screen; when I refresh the page I get a site error message about too many searches/search frequency and to wait 5 more seconds to search again.

Hi
Have a good think about what your future plans may be.
The minimum size cage to HOUSE one budgie is 18x18x18" - This is still a small cage but if you could manage to physically transport this sized cage, then choosing this size (or bigger) would give you more options for future use:
It could still be used to transport your bird.
With perches fitted low, it could be a hospital cage.
If you travelled overnight/ short holidays, you could use it as a holiday cage if bringing the bird.
If you ever decided to get a second bird, it could be a quarantine cage.

Personally, if you plan to transport your bird in a car, then I would choose a cage 18x18x18" or larger, that still fits easily into the vehicle.

If you are going to use the cage only as a travel cage, then the 12x12 cage will be just fine.

JRS has a very good point about getting a larger cage and multi-purposing it as a hospital/quarantine/travel cage.

Although I have a very small cage for quick trips to/from the vet, I use a larger sized cage if I'm going for car trips that will take several hours.

I was only planning for to and from with this cage. Basically something safe and secure to bring our baby home in and maybe to the vet when needed(hopefully not ever needed).

The little size will be perfectly fine then!
