Vision cage
Hi everyone!
I just purchased a large vision cage and was wondering if I can hang it from my ceiling? I plan on assembling the cage this weekend so I was wondering what I would need to do so.

Thanks:green pied:

It was not engineered to hang from its top, so I wouldn't do it unless Hagen said it was OK to. Also, for most part, it's difficult to hang a cage in a way that the budgies will feel safe. They generally like at least one wall, if not a corner, so that they don't feel too exposed.

Wouldn't that be too high? Also I agree with Leah, I'm pretty sure they'd feel unsafe in that position. Why do you want to hang the cage? Do you not have enough space?

I would never recommend trying to hang a cage from the ceiling.
Why not simply place the cage on a sturdy stand or shelf?

Thank you everyone. I was asking because I do not have a lot of room, and thought this might be a solution. I did not know that a hanging cage would upset them..thank you. I just ordered the Vision stand that fits this cage. It seems to fit the cage without added length, or bulkiness. I can't wait for it to arrive😊

I'm glad to hear you've ordered the stand -- well done!
We'd love to see a picture of your cage set-up once you have the stand in place and everything to your liking.

Best wishes!

Thank you...I will post a picture once I get it set up😊

That looks like a great setup and your little budgie pair seem to be quite content in their new house :)

Hi, Kathy --

The cage looks very nice.

I would suggest you add a couple of natural wood perches in varying diameters as well as a couple of swings.
Most budgies love swings and many love bells also!

You'll need to keep an eye on your budgies with regard to the mirrors.
Some budgie's become obsessed with their reflections so mirrors are not generally recommended for use in their cages.
If you notice one or both "feeding" the budgie in the mirror or hanging out by one of the mirror toys and ignoring the others, then I would suggest removing them.

This link will give you some good ideas with regard to perches and toys for your little ones:

Thank you Faery Bee
I just ordered a natural wood perch and a swing through amazon. I did not know about mirrors. Jasper has always loved to look my at his reflection, and because he was alone until il a couple of months ago I thought his was ok. I will remove them today. I have some other toys with bells on them. I hope removing the Mirrors won't upset him. He has had them for the 3 years that I have had him.

I have removed the mirrors, and added some bell toys. I found a swing too. :)

Kathy, their cage looks great  I'm sure they love their new cage!

The cage looks super and will be even better when you have natural wood perches.

I'd suggest adding another swing as well so both budgies will have one of their own. I have multiple swings in all of my birds cages (one per bird and then extras! :))

Next time you buy toys you can consider getting some shredding toys for Jasper and Mica.

You are doing a GREAT job with your budgies!

There are various types of "shredding" toys your little ones may enjoy. :)

KathywithaK 04-10-2017 12:53 PM

Ah.. ok I have seen these before. I'll get them a couple. I've been reading that they like crinkle paper. I worry that they might ingest some if it. Is there a special type to buy?
