Default cage color...does it matter?

Do we think it would add extra stress to moving if the new cage is a different color than the current one?

Thoughts?

Probably not-- they might be more wary of it at first but I don't think it would add a substantial amount of stress.

The cage color won't bother the budgie.
My birds have different cages with white and black bars available to them as play areas and they go back and forth between them with no concern about the color.

What color to you have and what color are you thinking about getting?

I prefer the black bars as I don't find them as obtrusive when I'm looking at the birds inside the cage.

Remember budgies see in ultraviolet so colour is different to them than it is to us, but unless you have an ultraviolet cage... I would be worrying more about the safety of the paint and the which way the bars are!
Nice of you to be considering everything for your little birds though!

We currently have a white cage. The one I was looking at comes in both white and black, but for some reason the black one is 30$ cheaper than the white one. I kinda prefer white, but not sure if I prefer it more than I do saving money lol.

I didn't actually know that birds see in ultraviolet color, but that is neat to know and something I'm gonna go google now. Thanks!

Well, budgies can see in ultraviolet light as well as in the color spectrum we can see-- the addition of the ultraviolet sensing cones in their eyes means that they can see UV as well as other colours and also see colours that we don't have the capacity to see

I would get the cage in black It's not going to be an issue, and think about all the other things you can get with $30!

I also prefer white, but if the black one is cheaper then why not! I also have a white bird, so the white cage means I can't see him a lot of the time
I really don't think changing to a black cage would bother your budgie at all.

I personally have always preferred and used the powder coated black bird cages (with the exception of Griffin's aluminum cage).

I have experience with changing bird cages with several different birds. I noticed it's not the color that affects whether or not they adjust right away, it has to do with the individual bird's personality. The individuals who might take more time to adjust will be just fine . It's like when we move house and feel a little out of sorts with our routine for a while.
