Default Cage Supply advice

Hello, I still have yet to get my first budgie but in a couple of weeks here I'm going to start gathering supplies! Before I get anything, I wanted to check here first to see if I'm getting the right things.
I plan to go to my local parrot shop and a few big pet stores (petsmart, petco, etc) for most of the stuff I'm getting.

First off, the cage. I found this one https://www.amazon.com/Pawhut-30-Sma...d=76L4RG3T1EI0 on Amazon. It only has 3 reviews but they're all positive, and it seems like a pretty sweet cage for a really great price (more money for toys and perches!). It's 30.25"x20.5"x19.75", I believe. Bigger than the similar Prevue cage by two inches up and back. It comes up as 12,247 square inches, if I did the math correct.

Next, perches. I plan to get 3 natural branch perches, 1 concrete perch, 1 to 2 flat perches, 2 rope perches (HIGH quality. i'm getting two to replace the first when it frays), and 1 other "irregular" perch. I'll also be getting 1 wooden swing perch. I might get more once I'm there, but I want to get at least these ones.
I plan to keep whatever wooden or plastic dowels come with the cage just in case I need them for whatever reason (ease of handling, quick replacement, etc). Of course I will have TONS of different perches in there with them, so it's no problem.

TOYS! Of course I'm going to avoid toys with long loose strings, unsafe material and chains (and replace unsafe connectors with quick links). I want to get 3 foraging/preening toys, 3 shredding toys, 2 "intelligence" toys, 2 acrylic toys, and at least one toy with a nice bell. Again I might get more if I see any I really like. No mirrors!

Now, feeding/nutritional stuff. I'll be getting at least 4 stainless steel dishes, MAYBE a water bottle, a pack of cuttlebones and one or two mineral blocks, and of course spray millet and one or two different healthy treats. I'll only be feeding one teaspoon of seeds every other day and I'll have pellets and fresh water available 24/7. Fresh vegetables every day as well as a small amount of fresh fruits once or twice a week as a tasty treat.
Pellets: https://www.amazon.com/ZUPREEM-23030...budgie+pellets
Seed mix: https://www.amazon.com/Sensible-Seed...XC16GAB91YAW8N

Then I'll be getting this carrier https://www.amazon.com/Prevue-Pet-Pr...s=bird+carrier and this playstand https://www.amazon.com/Prevue-Hendry...ords=playstand for outside-of-cage fun.
I'll also be getting Poop-Off and Nature's Miracle cage cleaner, I already have a big thing of white vinegar that I use for my hamster.

That's it, I think! Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to make sure I was getting the very best supplies for my future budgie (or budgies, if he or she gets lonely!). Any constructive criticism is welcome!

Hey Grey--

Wow, you're pretty much 100% prepared! I can't think of anything else you might have missed, your entire plan looks amazing. The one thing I would mention is that budgies do need seed every day, but a teaspoon per day is fine, and having pellets available 24/7 is a great option.

It sounds like your budgie is going to be a very happy and healthy little fellow!

Your list is great.

As StarlingWings mentioned, your budgie should receive 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons of a high quality seed mix each day.

Your little budgie is obviously going to be receiving the best of care and I'm totally impressed with your preparations!

Well done!

Faerybee and StarlingWings have already addressed the bird seed. I just wanted to add that for shredding toys, balsa wood, yucca disks and paddlepop sticks make great shredding toys. They are super easy for the budgies to shred and they love them

It's great to see that you have done a lot of research and are well prepared to bring your new baby home. I can't wait to meet him/her!

Hi Grey

Well done on the preparation - wouldn't it be nice if pet sellers asked to see a photo of the buyer next to their set up before selling them a bird - I can dream!

The only thing I'd add to your list is space. Unless your bird is heavily clipped, in your enjoyment of setting up a lovely home, remember to leave some flight space. You don't need to get every toy and perch in there, its good to have new accessories to rotate with to keep things interesting later, once your budgie is well settled.

I'm excited to see who ends up living here, I feel that your thoughtful, patient approach will be perfect for letting him/her settle in.

Thank you all for the great advice! I didn't know budgies needed seed every single day, so thank you for letting me know! I'll be sure to do that.

Also, just to add, I won't be putting ALL of the perches and toys in at once. The cage is pretty big, so I'll probably be adding 2 or 3 of the natural perches, a rope perch, and the concrete perch at first, maybe the flat perch if I have a place for it that isn't too crowded, and 3 or 4 different toys. When he/she feels comfortable with me and the cage, I'll start switching out toys and perches regularly (that's why I'm getting so many!).

I'll leave a big space in the middle area open for him/her to fly about (kind of orienting everything around the outside). I hope this is a good plan!

Your set-up sounds amazing, and I'm thinking of getting the same cage. I'm a newbie as well and haven't bought a thing yet, so I'm in that planning stage right where you are. I'm going to build a hanging play gym of some sort - there's a whole other dimension of planning!

I can't wait to see your progress! Please keep us updated.
