Talking Ing's new cage.

I just upgrade Ing's cage. He will be getting another upgrade after Christmas. His recall training should be good enough by then for a very large flight cage. I made pretty much everything in his cage except his perches myself. I'm kinda frugal with toys so that he can easily have more. The pinata toy on the right is easily 20 bucks or more for something similar at pet stores and I have maybe 2 dollars in that toy. Any suggestions? I try not to overcrowd his cage since he is fully flighted but all suggestions are welcome. Also, I am aware it's generally not recommended to have a hideaway of any kind in their cages because it encourages breeding behavior but he's an only bird and I will remove the coconut shell if any aggression occurs towards me. It gives him a sense of security and he enjoys sleeping in it so it's staying for now.

ETA: Can I just remove the grate and scoop the little poops out as needed? I have noticed the poop rarely actually goes through the grate and it impeded him playing with some of the foot toys and foraging toys I have for him.

Ing is a very lucky little budgie to have such great toys and I'm sure he'll appreciate having another cage upgrade after Christmas!

You can either remove the grate or place newspaper, white craft paper, packing paper or white paper towels on top of the grate if that will be easier for you.

My birds all love to forage on the bottom of the cage and, having the Prevue Hendryx F040 and F050 cages I use packing paper I buy through Amazon as my cage liners.

Thanks FaeryBee. I saw that post but misread it skimming through it quickly and thought you used papers under the grate. That grate is coming out tonight! Something about poop just hanging on it really grosses me out! Ha ha ha! Ing I think will be glad that it is gone as well.

The cage and the colorings I see there are very impressive. Ing is a lucky bird. You for 2 dollars have the skill to make a toy that sells for 20 dollare in the stores. Good for you, and I am now aware the profits the stores make on products. Happy Holidays to both you and InG.

Birdmanca, Thank you and happy holidays to you as well. Some products aren't marked up so much but others are definitely. Pretty much everything manufactured is anyway. There are pinata type toys on the marked available that are cheaper than twenty bucks but they are generally paper stuffed ratton balls and that is pretty much it to the toy. Birds love them though.
