Harry is my only budgie. I've had him for 4 1/2 months. He lives in a PH 25212 which is 23wide x 19 deep x 24 high. He has three levels of perches and he uses every bit of the cage. He does fly vertically as well as horizontal and flies around quite a bit.
My biggest concern is him getting enough exercise because at the snail's pace he's going with taming it will be a long time before he gets to fly around the room.
I am considering getting him a PH F040. Going from 6 cubic ft to 15 cf would give him a lot more room to fly and go for adventures.
Do you think he has enough space? Would a F040 be an overkill for one budge?
Good choice, I have 4 of them. When it arrives you will have to put it together and it is easier if you have someone that can help you hold things together as you tighten the screws. You will see that the cage has 4 spring loaded doors on the side, you may want to secure them shut with something so your bird cannot push it open and get out or gets his head stuck.
Glad to hear you decided to go with the F040.
You certainly won't be sorry and Harry is going to LOVE having the space.
It is definitely *not* overkill for one budgie. I have a couple of F040's with only one bird in each of them.
