So happy to have found this community! We just got our first Budgie, Tom, a couple of days ago. He is such a sweetie and has already perched on my finger, in his cage, and eaten treats from me, in his cage. It’s so fun to work with him everyday and see how much more comfortable he gets being in his new environment. We just love him so much!

Hi MissJules and to the forums!

Tom is adorable, and I hope we see a lot more of him!

I'm glad it seems like he's settling in well, however, I would keep in mind that some budgies are submissive for the first few days because they're terrified. It's always good to let your new budgie settle in for two weeks without trying to touch or tame them so they can get used to their new home! During this time, you can start taming by sitting by their cage as much as possible and reading, singing, and talking to them. This will help build a strong foundation of trust

After they're comfortable with you, you can resume your hand taming sessions. If it really seems like Tom is comfortable with your hands early on, that's fine, but try not to rush things with him

Meanwhile, you've come to a great place to learn even more about the best of budgie care practices. Be sure to ask if you have any questions after reading through things!

We hope to see you and Tom around

Cheers
