Hi there,
Joined today and this is my first post. We recently (6 weeks) took in 2 adult females that are somewhere between 2 and 4 years old. These ladies are a lot of fun so far! We are very carefully working on hand training and introducing fruits and veggies. They were housed in a very tall narrow cage so we moved them into a flight cage and have begun letting them out near the end of the day. Their first few times out they almost couldn't fly at all. Over the last 2 weeks they have worked up to flying circles and landing back at the cage (and artwork on the walls).
I ordered a larger "aviary" style cage and we are thinking about adding another budgie to the flock. That brought me here for more info, research and guidance. I'm also looking for a breeder recommendation in the Connecticut area.
It sounds like you're off to a great start with your girls! What are their names? We'd love to meet them if you have any photos to share
Meanwhile, you've come to a great place to keep updated on the best practices for budgie care! Please be sure to have a look around and familiarize yourself with the budgie articles and "stickies", and if you have any questions after reading through anything, please feel free to ask as we'd love to help!
We hope to see you around here!

Hi Joe,
Sounds like you are off to a good start with the girls we all love pictures so feel free to share. If you add another to your flock it would be best to have all the same gender, if you were to add a male you might see fighting and you would also need to take steps to prevent breeding, it is generally best to have an even number of budgies, two can become buddies and the 3rd may get left out.
You could also consider rescuing a budgie (or budgies) that need to be rehomed.
