A few minutes ago I went to feed my aviary(outside) budgies. I noticed that one of my beautiful budgie males are gone! He was there yesterday and I made sure that my aviary's door is closed before I went back into the house!
I searched my whole aviary, but he is nowhere to be found! I do not know what to do! I searched my aviary for any place where he could have escaped, but I can't find any? (What do I do IF he escaped? How do I get him back? He is not microchipped!)
The thought of someone stealing him came up in my head and it is just so of a coincidence that our neighbors who live behind us(the only people who can see my aviary) could have stolen him, because Their children ( a teenage boy and another boy of about 7 or 8 years) sat on the wall yesterday (wall facing the aviary) and threw our dogs with stones, but if they can get on the wall, they can easily get over it and have access to my aviary! I also saw them a few times looking over the wall in the past. (But I don't get it? Why would they take him?He isn't even a show budgie!)
Please help me!
I do not know what to do!! I really love my budgie!
How do I get him back? He's my whole life!
Will he return if they(children) went into my aviary and he (My Budgie) escaped?
What I'd recommend is putting up lost posters for him offering a reward for any information and for his safe return. It sounds like the kids could have taken him. You mentioned the kids were...okay I'm not going to say anything right now. Just hope for the best and expect the worst.
Distribute lost posters to all your neighbours, put them up at animal hospitals, pet stores, shelters, popular grocery stores, etc. Maybe you could even contact the newspaper and see if you can put a notice that Bubbles is missing and that you're offering a reward.
I recommend that you also get a lock for your aviary so nobody can get in it but you.
I'm sorry to hear about Bubbles. Hopefully you can find him. You should also offer a reward on Craigslist and the like for any information people can offer that might help you find your boy.
You should look for any clues to see if the kids might have gone into your yard.

Also put a lock on the Door so thieves will have to break in and leave a trail. Also If you have not put extra support and be sure ther are no easy ways for a predator to pull a door open enough to slip in at night. We have hawks, raccoons, Rats etc so we add extra lattice to better secure screen and flooring from digging out/in. we also put mosquito net on or flights here in Georgia. Do you have a motion detector or a bell or something set up to alert you of intruder on your property.? I hope you can come home soon. You may want to hand a flyer to the parents of these kids. This may clue them in if they have a new budgie show up in their kids room. this is a risk we all take with outside aviary access. Birds do go missing all of the time. It is very painful when we loose one of our little ones. Praying for safe return of your budgie.
I don't know what kind of aviary you have, is it possible there could be a spot anywhere that he could have squeezed out ? I would rule that out because if that did happen, the other bird's may try to do what they seen him do. I hope you get your boy back...
He came down from Heaven unto this earth below
He came down from glory and praises untold
He came down to man fashioned in their way
He came down to rescue, He came down to save
Do you have any security on the aviary any locks etc?
If not and you think the children may have taken him go round the house when the parents are there and taje a picture and ask if they have seen him. Dont accuse them without proof. If you can get into the house if they invite you in you can listen out for budgie sounds.
Have a good look at the floor of the aviary are there any holes? What flooring do you have?
Thank you all for the much needed info!
My aviary now has a super strong lock and I made a few "missing Budgie" posters to put up at the supermarket, vets and shelters in town! I also posted a "Missing Budgie" ad on facebook and other lost and found websites. I will be handing out flyers to all my neighbors (including the children's parents). I hope I will find my budgie boy soon! I will keep you updated on this post!
Thank you all very much!
I appreciate it a lot!
I'm very sorry this happened. I so hope you find him.
You mentioned that you were surprised they "took" him, so I'm wondering if they didn't take him but entered the aviary and he flew away.
Of course this is only the assumption, because we don't even know of those children had anything to do with this.
Plaster your entire neighborhood with posters with his clear and big photo and 'reward' in big letters.
