Default Lost My Boy

I lost my sweet boy on May 20 at 8:30 am in Universal City, Texas. I had a radio on and he broke his usual routine and flew up behind me as I was opening the back door and landed right on my shoulder and then just took off. I usually can hear him flying, but with the radio on I couldn't. I did not visually see him again until 1:00 pm, he was in a tree in the neighbors yard behind us. I had his cage out with all his favorite toys and I sat out there trying to coax him down. Then he just disappeared, I had binoculars and scanned the tree but he was gone. I walked up and down all of over our neighborhood playing budgie sounds from my cell phone. Unfortunately our neighborhood consists of thousands of homes and millions of trees. That night I heard an owl in our tree, which I have never heard the whole nine years I've lived here.
I am completely heartbroken, he and I did everything together. Last night I was scanning Craigslist and saw a found parakeet ad, I freaked out thinking it was him but it was a baby white female found. I did put lost flyers up at both vet offices, and at our local pet store, and a Craigslist ad.

Christine, I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your darling budgie. I hope that you are able to be reunited with him; you're doing all the right things to give him the very best chance of being found.

I'll keep my fingers crossed!

If you have a local facebook group is a possibility, calling all humane shelters in your area, and maybe beyond. Take lots of walks around your area. You never know but don't give up.

Oh my gosh!!! Some lady called me a few minutes ago and said a woman posted on the Nextdoor website that she has had a blue Parakeet coming to her feeder! She saw my flyer and contacted the woman on Nextdoor and told her I had lost my Parakeet. The neighborhood is about 3-4 miles away. I emailed the woman and asked her if I could bring his cage and toys over. I gave her my phone number, but nothing yet. Please pray for me, thank you for the encouragement to keep the faith! I'll let you know what happens.

It was a very long day waiting for the woman to respond to me. She got back with me about 8:40 tonight, she saw my pictures I had emailed to her, and she said it was definitely him. So it looks like another long day tomorrow waiting. The woman has a Dr.s appt. at 10 am and then she has a lunch appt., so she said I can come over at 2:00 pm. She said he has been landing on the ground under the bird feeder to feed.
Do y'all have any advice for when I go over to try and get him? I'm bringing his cage, playground, and his favorite magnified mirror that he loves to look at himself with. Thank you

Christine

Christine, I'm so glad that your little one has been found. I pray that you will be able to safely recover him!

Although you will be anxious to get him in his cage, move slowly and talk to him quietly. He'll most likely be very flighty after his experience in the wild!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you
