My sweet morrie
It is with a lot of sadness that im going to post this... i might not have lived at mums for the past year but i still got to see her budgies about once a week. I always made sure to say hello to them every time i came by, and morrie was still my favourite... we've had her longest, and she had such personality.
Mum gave them some fresh bottlebrush nuts in the morning, and she said they were all fine. She even commented to me during the day that morrie seemed to be getting through bark and nuts so fast she didnt know how to keep up, morrie was just so busy!
Mum went home after work, and called me up. Morrie was very weak and not using one half of her body properly. It was about half five, so our avian vets werent open. I met her at one of the late open vets, and im glad i went with her, because i got to see morrie before she went. The vet didnt know what was wrong, but she gave morrie anti-biotics, pain medication and subcutaneous fluids, and told us to take her home, keep her warm and take her to an avian vets in the morning. By the time we were leaving the vets, poor morrie was lying on the floor of the cage and i said goodbye to her, and that i loved her, she was pretty bad. She died on the car ride home.
We don't know what was wrong, she was absolutely fine in the morning. I think mum is taking her body to the avian vets to have a necropsy performed. It seemed to be neurological but we dont really know. We thought it could be a stroke, a spider bite, or the vet suggested diabetes though we dont know what could have brought that on.
Anyway... we sure will miss our special girl. There was no-one like her, she was funny and sweet and sassy all in one. she used to give us little kisses on our noses when she wanted to ask us for something. She was always sweet to her mate badger, and she never bit anyone either. She was smart and playful, and always busy, on a mission to get up to mischeif we will miss her very much.
Roger was "second hand", and unwanted in his previous home.
Please consider giving a second hand budgie a home with your flock!
Thank you tracy (intoxxication) for my new siggy!
