One my tamed budgie, Sossy, went to Rainbow Bridge this afternoon.
She was perfectly fine yesterday. As usual I took her out inside the house to play with. She was in perfect health as far as I could see yesterday.
This morning I found her at the bottom of the flight cage. All the males crowded around her trying to feed her turn by turn. I had a feeling she wanted to lay an egg. She had been courting and also mated with Jestiny as I saw on many occasions. There was no nestbox or any thing that resembled a nesting place.
I crop fed her with a crop syringe of Calcium Plus on one dose. Then I returned her to the flight cage and she could fly to a wooden platform to sit there.
Late in the afternnoon on the same day I went to see her, she had passed.
She was a small size hen. I could not understand why she died as there are ample supply of cuttlebone and mineral block in the flight cage.
In memory of Sossy taken on New Year's day.
Rest in peace, Sossy. Your memories would be cherished forever by me, your grandpa.
