Default Bad few weeks

I was all excited when I posted on here last night, had got my new baby the previous day having lost our last budgie about 3 weeks ago.

We hadn't had Bert that long, he was only about a year old when we had him put down, the vets thought it was some sort of neural problem and he was obviously suffering. We were both devastated as he was such a great budgie, so nosy and playful.

We hadn't even had chance to make up our minds about a name for the new budgie, although I was thinking Basil. At lunchtime I got a frantic call from my husband saying he'd somehow got out of the cage, I think through the flap for the food holder, and it seems he flew into the window and broke his neck.

I feel so awful, Basil was just 6 weeks old and Bert wasn't exactly old.

On a happier note we've got lots of pics of Bert and loads of great memories, and to cheer me up my nan has bought us another little one. He's lovely and if the first few hours are anything to go by he's going to be a real character.

Thanks everyone. My new bird Blue seems to be settling in ok, so he's cheering me up. I have got the flaps covering the food and water cups fixed more securely now, so he won't be able to get out the same way. I still feel terrible about it though. hno:

I'm soo sorry to hear about Basil. It was in no way your fault though. Accidents happen, even when you think you've completely gotten everything "bird safe". Basil and Bert are now flying together happy and free at Rainbow Bridge.

That is so sad, Basil must have hit the window in just the right way. I am glad you have a new little one and he is helping you with your loss.
