Unhappy budgie died

i am writing this to get some understanding in why he died. i took him to the vet about a week ago, i was told that he had a chest infectionand was given antibiotic to give him. he did perk up and fly around. but kept flying into doors. his eyes were always weeping and yesterday he spent all the day at the bottom of the cage and this morning we found him dead. what could i have done to have prevented his death.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Rest in peace little one.

You probably didn't do anything wrong administering the antibiotics. This type of medicine may create antibodies to fight the infection but sometimes it's just too late.

You may ask your vet to give you a post mortem analysis on your budgie, which might answer your questions as to why he sadly did not make It.

Aww I am so sorry to hear about your budgie.

I don't really think there was much you could have done. You could have your vet do a necroscopy on him (that is the word right?)

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of your little sweety.

How did the vet tell you to administer the antibiotics? In the drinking water? If that is the case, budgies will often not get the proper dose needed to have any effect on the infection since they may not even drink the water (or they may not drink enough). It is also possible that your little guy's infection was too advanced to be treated.

The only way to really know what happened would be to have a necropsy done on your little one. Many people choose not to have that done, so it is very much a personal preference. It may be something you wish to consider.....
