May 9th I brought home my little hen. She was just 7 weeks old
Her colouring i was told was a YF Spangled
I fell head over heels in love with my little spaz girl, Spaz i say because i busted her flirting with the cock in the next cage (i have a cock and Hen together and had her cage beside them) and she was trying to lay on the perch...on her back. spaz! But Tonks was named for Nymphrodora off Harry potter because the character could change her hair to all colours this name appealed to me as Tonks's feathers were mottled like.
I spoke to a friend that works at our local pet store and she told me how to clip her wings correctly and I followed the instructions and yet Tonks still managed QUITE WELL
She was very chirpy of a morning chattering away while i made my cuppa and LOVED to whistle along to my country music.
July 31st 2013 at 18 weeks old, I came home one evening after being out for a few hours, Tonks had been fine that morning and chirpy as normal but when i entered the kitchen and found her looking puffy, i opened the cage and put my hand in and she came to me at once. (which was a clear sign of something wrong as normally she would refuse to come out of the cage) I moved the cage to the lounge room where we were so i could keep an eye on her and settled her back in the cage. 10 minutes later i checked her and found her sitting on the floor her head down, i scooped her gently out with the intention of wrapping her in a towel and snuggling her to warm her but within minutes her beautiful life ended in my hands.
I was devastated, plus being 35 weeks pregnant it was a definate blow to the hormones. the next day i buried her in a planter box with a beautiful flower on the end of the pot (will be putting in more flowers)
I know shes now at peace n in no pain.
Resting In Peace
