Goodbye Sky

I don't understand it. His droppings were normal, he was eating, he was drinking he played around and was so young.

Yet i found him on the bottom of the cage this morning slightly on his side. My dad and I began the drive to the avian vets and hour away. We only got about 15 minutes down the road when he died. I wanted my dad to carry on going to find out what had happened but he wouldn't and now i'm so scared Speed will die too.

How do i make him more comfortable? They were brothers so have had each other since they were born, i don't want him to die too!

So sorry to hear about Sky. RIP Sky. Keep a watchful eye on the other one for a while. They are good at hiding their illnesses

I definitely will be. I don't want to replace him, but i don't want Speed to be on his own either.

My dad reckons Sky might of fallen off his perch during the night and injured himself but i don't know.

I feel so horrible because last night i was saying how annoying he was for flying for the millet rather than the target stick and interfurring with Speed's training.

Its a sad thing to lose a loved one. I lost my first budgie, Swarovski, after only 2 months. It is usually best to get a new mate for speed because he might get depressed. But make sure to quarantine the new one for 30 days in another room.

R.I.P. Sky and fly high!

I am so sorry to hear about this. I hope Speed is alright.

Well he's perked up a little bit, he's singing (probably for Sky) and is eating and drinking and acting quite normal.

My parents say i have to wait until the next clutch of eggs hatch at my Nans but i don't know if Speed'll be ok with that.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sky. It's just awful the way they can die so quickly, with no sign of illness. I think maybe it will be best to wait for an egg to hatch, that way you could hand rear the next one and have it super tame! I'm sure Speed will be ok until then.

That's exactly what my Nan said to me.

Speed is starting to confuse me now though, he's now 'dancing' up and down his perch singing. Is he missing Sky or is he excited?

I'm sorry for your loss. I had the same problem, as to whether or not to get Jack-jack a new friend. We decided it would be best cuz he was showing signs of depression. It really helped us too.

I'm so sorry! What is the diet of them?
