Pipsqueak was very ill. I'd taken her to the vets. They were mailing me out some medication. It arrived in the post this morning... after I found Pipsqueak on the bottom of the cage, dead.
She was very very ill last night, I kind of thought she would not make it through the night. She was so fluffed up, sleepy, her front was swollen... it was an infection, they didn't know what, but it was resistant to Baytril.
Tonight my partner will be driving me the 2 hours back to mum's house so I can bury her alongside Pretty. We only live in a flat upstairs
Pipsqueak was one of the first pair of budgies I had. Lister was my partner's and Pipsqueak was mine. She was the birdy version of me. Grumpy and hated humanity but she could be sweet to those she loved. She would preen and feed Pecker, her recent cagemate, all the time. She was always quite weak and got ill a lot. I loved her to bits, still do. i am heartbroken but to be honest I think she is in a better place.
Pecker was cuddling her and trying to preen her last night. This morning he was frantic. When I removed her from the cage her flew onto her and pecked at her trying to work out what happened. I put her in a box and put Pecker back in his cage. He was bouncing about frantically and flock calling and the other birds didn't respond, just waited for Pipsqueak. It broke my heart all over again
I'm done rambling. I am just glad she's at peace and not ill anymore. I love you forever feathery darling, fly free with Pretty now.
