I have no Idea why, we were gone all day, she was fine this morning, my daughter was sitting in my room watching them like she always does when we got home, she had her tiel on her shoulder like always, and her tiel flew to the budgies cage like always ( they hang out in eachothers cages all day when we're home), Well Candy got startled and Fell from the top perch and she picked her up and brought her to me To tell me she was letting her hold her,
I knew something wasn't right she was not sitting in her palm like she should be she was more leaning, I sat her on the desk she kept falling over, I'd hold her she'd close her eyes, and open them up and fall over
I had my son get a extra cage out of the shed, and put a dish towel in and she tried to move but just fell over and laid on her side while twisting around * like doing a donught) instead of walking
I held her for her last few mins, She had muscle spasms or seziures or something her legs went stiff her little feet balled up really tight and she was breathing hard, then she'd calm down , and a few mins later do it all over again , Until she died
Now my question is I read about a school that does bird autopsy's, But I can't remember where it is at or what I should do to preserve her body until I can get it done to make sure she didn't have any illnesses
ANY help will be appriciated
R.I.P Candy We only had you for a couple days, but you stole our hearts as soon as we met
To preserve her for an autopsy soak her with washing up liquid detergent water and wrap with plastic cling film and store in the refrigerator. Never put in the freezer as this can destroy important organs needed for the autopsy.
So sorry to hear. Where did she come from? I note that you only had her for a couple of days.
Cutie Pie, Olive, Budgie, Baby Boy, Star, Pepper, Ariel, Oscar, Charlie, Little One, Chiclet.
Cutie Pie, Olive, Ariel, Little One and Chiclet are children of Budgie and Oscar.
Budgie and Star left us in 2009. Pepper and Oscar left us this year, 2010. 2018 and all are gone. Ariel and Cutie Pie died this Feb and March. Both over 11 years old.
A good day is a day all your birds are happy and healthy.
I got her at A pet store near fort wayne indiana, about a hour and a half away from we i live
I don't think she was sick, she was fine this morning, then when i got home this afternoon, she couldn't stand with out falling over, and then she'd just go in circles and at one point she was facing fowards with her head bent clean back to her back and going in cirlces, she couldn't hold her head up when i'd move my finger from holding her head up, it would either fall to the side or tilt all the way backwards
The only thing I can fiqure is she had fallen off her perch ( or perhaps had a sezuire) and broke a bone on impact
I've decided not to do the autopsy, i can't bring my self to doing it , So tommorow I'm going to take her to the house we're moving into this comming week, and burry her in the yard there.
