Yesterday morning I found our parakeet, Pippin, dead in his food bowl. My son held him in a washcloth and cried abit and then we put him in a box for burrial. We got him about 2 1/2 years ago and the pet store told us he was a a baby, just a few months old. I am not sure if they were right or not. I have no idea if he died from a disease or just old age. He appeared normal eating and running around the floor in the house when we let him out. He never was very active in his cage, but that was from day one.
I am going to wait a month, just in case it was a disease, then I will get two parakeets. I want a couple house cleanings to go by to get rid of any "sick-bugs" before I get any new birdies. I already cleaned the cage, perches, food dishes and toys with bleach and then rinsed them really good.
Rest In Peace Our Sweet Little Pippin The Peepin Parakeet!
I am so sorry to hear about your little guy Pippin. Rest in peace little fellow.
I think it's great that you are going to bring into your lives new little budgie friends though. I know some people are reluctant to open themselves up to this kind of opportunity again. Be sure to let us know when you bring them home!
