It is with a heavy heart I tell you Gumby's struggle came to an end this morning. She was clearly much sicker this morning and I could see her breathing was labored. She couldn't keep her food down and was obviously feeling so bad.
The vet this morning told me she had been thinking about our case for the last week. She felt that it was most likely that Gumby had a splinter(s) in her crop and Gumby was already too weak for any surgery. Of course, I don't believe I would have consented to a surgery on this tiny winged creature, anyway.
So, we ended the suffering this morning and my sweet winged angel flew to the Rainbow Bridge to meet all of our other friends there. I know she has spread her wings, flying high so the warmth of the sun could shine on her! And I know she will be there waiting for me, along with so many friends I have known.
I thank all of you for your support through all of this. The sharing of knowledge, suggestions and caring among this group is amazing and other groups pale in comparison! I pray all of you have years and years of happiness and health with your beloved winged friends.
I leave you with this:
FRIENDS IN THE GREAT BEYOND
Do not weep for me when I am gone
For I have friends in the great beyond.
All the little ones I used to feed
Will come to me in my time of need.
They will purr and bark (and tweet!) in great delight,
And I will hold and hug them tight.
Oh, what a great day that will be
When my animal friends all welcome me!
Jules - i am so sorry to hear about Gumby, but you did everything you could and it was evident that you loved Gumby sooooo much.
It's nice to know that there are all these kind hearted Budgie-lovers out there and that you were able to take care of such an adorable budgie.
Oh this is so sad. I am so sorry to hear of this news. I was hoping Gumby was going to be okay, as we all were. I know what a struggle it has been over the last while with her health. I am sending you lots of hugs!
Fly high, fly free, fly forever little sweetheart.
