Sara it was most likely an aneurysm, this is a pretty common result from a head injury. I have had a number of larger birds given to me that have flown into a window either car or home. The result has been the same. The brain swells because of the injury. This swelling stops the blood from leaking. When the swelling goes down the blood can then flow. Or a clot has been formed. But most likely a bleed.

I am sorry for your loss of Blue. But neither you or the vet could have prevented it from happening.

I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. Everything that could have been done to help Blue was done, but it seems like this was not avoidable given the injuries. I am sending you and your son lots of hugs. ((hugs))

Rest in peace little Blue. Fly high, fly free, fly forever.

I am so sorry about Blue. That is very sad. At least Blue could die peacefully in gentle, warm hands.

Thanks everyone.

I was thinking aneurysm as well. Either that or a stroke related to the previous head injury.

I'm so sorry to hear about Blue and my heart breaks for you and your son. My son had a wonderful budgie die in his hands and it's so hard to get through. We hold the memories very close of our feathered friends. I agree with VioletBlue that time heals...we never forget. Prayers with you and your son.
