Unhappy Goodbye Gibbon

Gibbon took off my shoulder while I had taken a step outside to remark about the weather. Me and my sister looked for about an hour before giving up. We made a few posters and had a little memorial service. I feel so sorry for both Gibbon and Kiwi as Gibbon probably won't survive the night for anyone to find him. Rest in peace Gibbon and may the sky forever be blue for you.
I feel so guilty for his death and it's only been two weeks since we got him ;~;

Oh no! What a horrible accident. Don't give up hope, maybe someone will find Gibbon and return him to you.

I'm so sorry you had this happen... Despite the odds, it's still possible that Gibbon is alive and someone has rescued him. Even if you get no news from your budgie boy, there will always be that "what if he is safe at someone else's home?" And given the two possibilities, this one is the least bad and in this case, it's best to think he is safe and well, wherever he is.

Do spend more time with Kiwi and turn this sad event into a way to bond more with your remaining budgie. If after a few weeks you notice that Kiwi is still grieving and not the happy self he used to be, then getting him a new friend will do him good.
I hope you and Kiwi will feel better soon.

Like Aluz said he could still be ok. I would put a cage with food and water out side (open door of course) near where he flew off. You never know he might be in a tree watching and if he sees his cage with food he would probably go to it. It is a slim chance but it is a chance.

Oh this is so sad - losing a budgie that was is hard - it has happened to me in that I left our motorhome door open and our very young baby Bertie flew out up and away high in the sky. I looked for him for days. We have to forgive ourselves and remember them always, knowing they will be waiting for us on Rainbow Bridge.

Oh no, what a terrible accident Aluz' advice is great, I would listen to what she says.

I've lost 3 birds this year to a gap in the roof of our aviary, fixing it so it wouldn't happen again didn't bring them back or make me feel less guilty for not knowing it was there. I still hold out hope that they were found by someone or found another way to survive like joining a wild flock. You hear stories all the time of that happening, sometimes they even come back. I hope you and Kiwi are doing OK
